National Self-Advocacy Conference (NSAC)
National Self-Advocacy conference(NSAC) in Malaysia was first held in 2005. The conference was organised by self-advocates from three self-advocacy groups - United Voice, Friendship Club and Dragon Club. Subsequently all the NSAC are held every 2-3 years organised by various self-advocacy groups from different parts of Malaysia.

At the conference the self-advocates:
  • Learn about their rights and our responsibilities
  • Learn how to voice out
  • Discuss on issues and about employment
  • How to be leaders
  • Get to know other self-advocates from other groups


  • 1st NSAC
    120 people from 8 states participated in the 1st National Self-Advocacy Conference for Persons With Learning Disabilities in Kuala Lumpur 2005.

    2nd NSAC
    The 2nd National Self-Advocacy Conference was held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in 2007, organised by Kangaroo Club. About 90 people participated in this event.

    3rd NSAC
    The 3rd National Self-Advocacy Conference was held in Penang in 2009. About 80 self-advocates, supporting friends and observers participated in this event. It was organised by Mutiara Voice Club.

        
    The 4th National Self-Advocacy Conference was held in Teluk Intan, Perak in 2011. About 100 self-advocates, supporting friends and observers participated in this event. It was organised by Bethany Self-advocacy Group and Divine Voice.


    The 5th National Self-Advocacy Conference was held in Selangor in 2014. About 103 self-advocates and supporting friends participated in this event. It was organised by Adventure Club and United Voice.
